How some people are making thousands developing iPhone apps

I have been reading extensively on how other people are making money on the internet and came across this post by Pat Flynn.  He has been on my radar for a while mainly because he posts his monthly earning reports.  It is rare for guys to do that so I appreciate how transparent he is.  Additionally one of his largest resources for affiliate earnings is from an eBook about creating iPhone apps without any programming knowledge.

The eBook that he sells is found here.

I am getting ready to start using this product and in fact just bought it this morning.  I will begin using it today since I have a bit of a slow day today.

In the mean time I will show you what Pat is reporting for income in June, July and August 2010 so that you can see his awesome results.  Hopefully you and I can do the same. Read More…

Life is a pen drawing.

The Death of orpheus – Albrecht Durer  - 1494

Pen drawing, 28.9 x 22.5 cm
Hamburg, Kunsthalle

Alright, so I am going to get a bit philosophical right now, so please bare with me.

My kids have been having me draw pictures for them recently.  I draw in black pen and sketch out a pretty in depth drawing.  My daughter got an amusement park yesterday and my son got a skeleton on a deserted island today.  They both liked the pictures and have now begun coloring them.

As I draw, if a line ends up in the wrong spot or shaped wrong I have to go back and sort of scratch out a new line that is more defined.  If I were drawing in pencil I could just flip the pencil around and erase where I messed up and redraw it.

Life is drawing with an ink pen.  You do not get to go back in time, erase and redo what you have already done.  You’re drawing with ink.  You are allowed to go off course, come back and scribble harder over the same lines to change, shape and refocus your efforts.  But you can not erase what has been done.  Recenter yourself and  begin to redefine who you are or what it is you do by making your new corrected course more defined and obvious.

How to take notes…and find them later

I have several notebooks that I have been taking notes in for the last year or so. I take notes from books I read, write down business plans, notes from meetings all sorts of stuff. Chances are that if you see me you will see me with a Staples® notebook under my arm

My favorite size for this notebook is 6″x9 1/2″ and can be had for about $3 here or at your local Staples store.  They are awesome and hold a pen well in the wire binding.  This is how I take notes and index them so that I can find them later.

1. Start by numbering the pages in the top right hand corner of the page.

2. As you take notes title the top of the first page of your note with the subject, book, meeting time and place , etc.

3. Bookmark a page 5 pages from the back of the notebook with a paperclip and title it “Index.”

4. After you take your notes log the subject in the index by page number. Read More…

4 Business Books That Will Change Your Life and Your Business

This is probably my favorite book in this list.  I have also bought multiple copies of this book to hand out to friends and colleagues.  I can not say enough for the merits of this book.  It will help you change the way you think about being rich and how to get there.  Being rich is not simply about wealth.  If you evaluate your desires deeply enough you may well find that what you really want is time.  Time is what allows you to do the things you want to do; more time with family, less time in commuter traffic, time to take short vacations.

Below is a short video of Tim Ferriss being interviewed and discussing the 80/20 principle which he also cover in his book. Read More…
